The John Newbery Medal is a literary award given every year since 1921 by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), to the author of "the most distinguished contributions to American literature for children".
One book wins the Newbery Medal each year, and a handful of others are awarded Newbery Honors. This collection only contains the Newbery Medal winners. For the full list of more than four hundred honorees, click here.
