Edition Notes

Holograph, signed with initials.

William Lloyd Garrison offers an "Alphabetical Song" for publication in The Independent. He will send another article soon. Garrison writes: "The violent attacks upon me, at the recent meetings of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society, by Foster and Dr. Knox, evinced a good deal of personal bitterness. A fair opportunity was presented to W. P. to put the seal of his reprobation upon such 'gabbles,' as you justly characterize it. But he had not the magnanimity to do so. To think of him at the head of such ranters!"
