This book was an important contribution to the renewal of interest in the large wood-fired jars (otsubo) made in the ceramic producing area of Shigaraki, Japan, during the late Kamakura and Muromachi periods in Japan (the medieval period of Japan) and is famous for the photographs taken by the photographer Ken Domon
