I raise the example of the Roman Empire because in our time we are faced by perplexing questions. What does our rapidly globalizing world look like now, and what kind of planetary community awaits us? Can we get a perspective on these confusing times by looking back? How can Christians speak the gospel in a post-modern, post-Christian, and post-national situation? Does the Christian message remain the same? Will a new global situation require a new unifying religion? The following pages seek to answer these questions that concern our generation, our children, and our grandchildren. I hope in this book to provide perspective on the times in which we live by looking to the early days of the Christian movement. - Preface.
