This is the life of a free born black woman (Newburyport, MA,1799) and her upbringing and subsequent life. She married a man who served as a bodyguard at the court of Catherine the Great (!) and she herself was there. The husband served Princess Purtossozof. Also a missionary to Jamaica, she was captured as a runaway and sent to prison. The entire book is one thankful praise to God for delivering her.
