Over 500 postcards show a variety of images characterizing the northwest region of Russia (now Leningrad Region) including different forms of habitation, rustic estates, dachas, peasant izbas, residences of the imperial family; churches and monasteries; and various spheres of economic activity, such as factories and markets. The compiler has selected images of many sites that time has effaced or drastically changed, thus recreating a visual chronicle of late imperial Russia.
