Jackson discusses [Alanson] St. Clair's charges against him for bringing a large delegation to the annual meeting in New York by getting the more prosperous delegates to pay the expenses of those who could not otherwise afford the trip. Jackson claims that this is a regular procedure and adds that the Society's journal, "The Liberator," announced a public meeting at the Chardon Street Chapel for the purpose of persuading people to go.
