Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

James Miller M'Kim submits a plan to help the Freeman by securing regular correspondents. The first correspondent secured is Oliver Johnson, who will write weekly articles. While the plan is to get correspondents who will write gratuitously, in Oliver Johnson's case it seems right to compensate him. J. Miller M'Kim seeks four correspondents from Boston, each writing once a month. He asks Maria Weston Chapman to be one of correspondents and to persuade three others to serve---possibly Wendell Phillips, Edmund Quincy, Francis Jackson, or Anne Warren Weston.
