Holograph, signed.

Richard Allen sends autographs of "the greatest man in Ireland, for such I hold Theobald Mathew to be." His name is also prefixed to the address from "our" [the Irish] nation. Teetotalers will be glad to have his autographs. The other autographs are from a forerunner of Father Mathew.

On this stationery, there is an engraving of "The Cove of Cork. Richard Allen comments about this engraving in a postscript: "The little sketch at the head of this, was doubtless one of Father Mathew's early haunts -- It is a beautiful spot.
