Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Lucia Weston describes the physical appearance of Mrs. John A. Collins and Mrs. Jonas Perkins. Mrs. Collins daughter was rather disagreeable and "tagged after" Lizzy [Elizabeth Bates Chapman Laugel] where ever she went. Lucia heard an intolerant sermon by Amos A. Phelps about the duty of joining the church. After a visit by Richard Hildreth, Henry G. Chapman commented on the coldness of his manners. She discusses a circular belonging to Amos A. Phelps, urging the appointment of Elizur Wright as the editor of the new [Liberty Party?] newspaper. Lucia reports on Henry Chapman, Sr.'s illness.
