Founded in 1880, the Revue des Études Juives (Journal of Jewish Studies), abbreviated REJ, is a French quarterly, published by the Société des Études Juives (Society of Jewish Studies), under the editorship of Isidore Loeb (1839-1892), and and after his death under that of Israël Lévi (1856-1939).
   The REJ is devoted to the study of all aspects of Judaism throughout history according to scientific methods and to the printing of unpublished texts concerning Judaism. It publishes research on religion, history, literature and Jewish societies, mainly in that they relate to the Jews in France, as well as the work of anthropology.

The REJ is arranged in volumes, two of which contain the records for the year. Each of these volumes consists of two numbers. The articles are chiefly in French; some also German, English, or in Hebrew. Many volumes include Actes et conférences of the Société des études juives (France). The majority of the volumes contains also a special bibliographical section devoted to reviews of works on Judaism.
   The volumes 1 – 117 of the REJ were issued by the Société des Études Juives; from volume 118 on it was issued by the Société des Études Juives and the Ecole pratique des Hautes Études, Section des sciences économiques et sociales. The ISSN is: 0484-8616.
