Subject: John Law's dream
Subject: John Law's dream
The short pamphlet summarises John Law's thoughts on the necessity to supplying the nation with more money to foster trade and general economic development: "Trade and money depend mutually on one another ; when trade decays, money lessens ; and when money lessens, trade decays..." (p.190). Law ( Edinburgh, Kingdom of Scotland, 1671 – Venice, Republic of Venice, 1729) is well-known for being a banker, financier, economist, controller-general of finances in France, but also an unscrupulous adventurer and a bankrupt.
