Holograph, signed
L. P. Ashmead writes: "Howland & Preston were with me during their Easter vacation." He tells of the afflictions suffered by his sister Dolly. L. P. Ashmead says that "the monument for my dear wife at St. James the Less is about finished." He would like Deborah Weston to suggest an inscription. His recollection of his old home in New Bedford is "tempered with sadness." He refers to Joseph Ricketson and other people in New Bedford. L. P. Ashmead is staying with his brother John and his mother
