Esther Sturge was prevented from writing because of illness in the family. The "serious indisposition" of Esther Sturge's brother was for some weeks very alarming. Esther Sturge finds the progress of anti-slavery principles in America delightful. She asks how it is that funds are so low in Boston just now
In the postscript, Esther Sturge explains that her brevity is the result of gout, which has made her "hand almost useless." She mentions also that they still hope to have a Peace Convention in August in Paris. She believes that Frederick Douglass is now in London
