Edition Notes

Report on the Colloquy of Regensburg of 1546 by one of its participants, Georg Major. The basis of discussion was to be the Augsburg Confession, with the understanding that agreement had been reached on its first three articles. The discussion focussed on Faith and Justification. Emperor Charles V appointed four delegates, while Elector John Frederick of Saxony and Philipp of Hesse together appointed four. Georg Major replaced Phillip Melanchthon. Major's other Lutheran colleagues were Erhard Schnepf and Johann Brenz.
