The original Spanish text is lost. An Italian translation by G.B. Ramusio was published in his "Terzo volume delle navigationi et viaggi," Venetia, 1556, with title: Relatione di alcune cose della Nuova Spagna, & della gran città di Temestitan, Messico; fatta per uno gentil'homo del signor Fernando Cortese. It was translated into Spanish by Joaquín García Icazbalceta and published in his "Collección de documentos para la historia de México," v. 1, Mexico, 1858. The present edition is a reprint of this Spanish text.
