John Mitchell

Feb 3 1935 -

Born north London in 1935 where he grew up during the Blitz. Became a cadet in the Air Training Corps while at secondary school.
After leaving. he joined London Transport's engineering staff and attended Enfield Technical College as a mechanical engineering student.
He served two years National Service in the Royal Air Force, mostly in the Egyptian Canal Zone 1953-1955.
For a hobby he began restoring clock dials and from that developed an interest in military horology and has written articles on the subject for the Society of Military Horologists. Before retirement he managed a computer distribution and supply group for University College London. He is an active member of Suez Canal Zone Veterans and for exercise he explores rivers, canals and waterways around London.
