Deepala Pitchayya Sastri

Deepala Pitchayya Sastry was born on 27 th May,1894 at Bommarajupalli,a village in Guntur district,Andhra Pradesh.Parents-Saraswatamma and Venkatanarasayya.Sri Sastry worked at VRC high school,Nelllore as Telugu teacher and retired in 1954.A well known critic and Poet,he was known for his critical studies in telugu literature.He has to his credit 9 poetic works,11 translations from sanskrit(Both prose and poetry),7 critical studies and a compilation of old chatus -Chatupadya Ratnakaram.His rendering of telugu poems was unique and attractive.Towards the end of his life he became a disciple of Bhagwan Sri Satya Sai Baba.Baba loved him very much.He passed away on 17 october 1983 at Kavali.
